Hi Steve,
I have 3 of the RadioThermostat.com CT-30 WiFi enabled thermostats, 2 at my business and 1 at home. As Chuck said, once you know how to interpret the screen, they are accessible and easy-to-use although I find setting up a schedule is a bit more of a challenge. Instead of running a 24 Volt fourth lead from your furnace you can use an ACm adapter to power them, but that of course means it has to be installed near a wall outlet and you'll have a cable dangling down the wall. I just thought I mention this option, but doing what Chuck did is definitely a better option. Your existing cable may already have 4 leads inside it, if not and a new one has to be run, it can definitely get expensive depending on how far away from the furnace the hermostat is and how accessible the ceiling/walls are. But I think no matter which product you choose, this will most likely be the same as they most likely all need power for the WiFi module. Lastly, RadioThermostat.com does seem to put out pretty regular app updates and some of them mentioned accessibility improvements so I think they are a good choice and the more they hear from Voiceover users the more they are probably going to make sure the app continues to be accessible. Once it is installed and set up by a sighted person, you can operate it from your iPhone or desktop computer. Voice over plays well with the thermostat's interface, but the layout is not as intuitive as I would like it. And the instruction manual is confusing... At least to me. But, once I learned the layout, it works fine. I bought mine from Amazon for a little under a hundred dollars. Please note... This thermostat requires a power wire from the HVAC unit. I had a professional HVAC company install mine. Which cost me an additional $250. Chuck (mobile) Pleez x cuze any tie ping or spelin airors.
