I see you're using AoL. Are you using POP or IMAP. If you're using IMAP this should happen for you automatically since your messages are all stored on the server and then synced with each device. If you're using POP then you need to look at your client's settings. In your client's settings you want to look for options like remove message from server after downloading or remove message from server after deleting or moving.

Carol, you'll need to go to your email account provider and change your
settings there. Where it says keep a copy of messages on the server
just uncheck that item. Then when you delete an email message it's gone
and will not appear on your computer etc.
Sadly, there is not a way to delete all the messages at once but you can
move quickly because iPhone by default groups messages by conversation
and there may be quite a few messages in a thread. To delete the
thread, flick your index finger down. You will hear the word delete
spoken. Now just double tap the screen with your index finger and that
hole thread is gone.
If you want to open that thread, just double with 1 finger. That way
you can cheery pick the messages in the thread.

*Subject:* removing email messages from server

Hello. I am new to this group and would like to know if there is
    anyone
that can tell me how to delete messages from my email server once I
    have
read them on my iPod. I tried removing them from both the trash and
deleted messages folder under the account name for my mail account.
Since I was away from home for a week, I read all of my messages on my
iPod and then deleted those I had no reason to keep. When I got
    home, I
had to wade through over 300 messages that I had already read and
deleted twice. Also, since I am on the subject, is there a way I can
select all of the messages to be deleted at one time and then simply
delete them all? Thank you for any help you can give me.

    Carol
