It looks like the difference between the classic and light versions of this myway app have to do with the ability to share points of interest via itunes and access pois in osm format. I got the light version to try this weekend. If it works with sufficient accuracy to be useful in a setting where there aren't defined roadways with sidewalks, entrances and all that good stuff, then I will pay the 15 bucks to support the developer.
