Tagging someone at a location or in a picture will let them know, and maybe there friends, that they're at the location or in the picture. If you're somewhere with a group of friends, you may want to let your friends who couldn't make it know what they're missing out. If you put up a picture from a trip or a party, you may want to tag others in the picture so that they'll now know they have pictures with them in it on the web.

Facebook has some good information on line regarding tagging, why you would do it, how you would do it and addressing any security issues anyone may have about tagging. If you want to know more, I'd suggest taking a look over there. It's easy enough to find with Google.

Jim, yes, it is very possible to tag people with the facebook app. When
you want to tag, flick right, out of the text field where you are
writing your post. you will see several options, one of which is choose
friends. Double tap this and your friends list will appear. once you
find the friend you want to tag, double tap their name. if you want to
tag multiple people, continue double tapping on names in the list. When
you are finished with selecting your friends, there is a done button
near the top of the list, double tap this and you will be taken back to
the text field where you were writing.

Stacy

Hi there,

Could someone tell me if it's possible to tag people using the IPhone
facebook app? If so, how do I go about doing that when writing my status?
