It is possible that you accidently turned screen curtain on. This is a feature that blanks out the iPhone screen. This feature is useful when using earphones and someone is entering private/sensitive information into their phone like bank card info.
To turn off the screen curtain do a 3 finger tap 3 times on the screen of your phone make sure that your fingers are spread apart so that the gesture is properly recognized.
