Jen, One of the things that I have found helpful also is to listen to which row: I have just moved in at two. This helps me in orientating myself to the right spot. I have also discovered that it can make life a little easier if you do not have a page full of apps and that those apps which you do have are at the top. I find, very often, that's where the iPhone naturally wants to put them. Sorry, I haven't yet tried to move apps on the pad, so can't speak to this directly.
