Hi Ed,
First of all, you can't install an app somebody else sends you, so even if somebody had this app it would not work on your iPhone since all apps, paid and free, are tied to your specific Apple Id. I know this advice may come too late, but a backup is not the same as a sync. Backing up your phone does not back up any music or really any content for that matter. It backs up your settings which includes information about which apps you had installed and what your home screen layout was. It will also back up things like your Favorites, Text Messages and so on. I actually like to use the encrypted backup option which requires you to set a password and confirm the password before the backup starts. This backs up even more settings such as WiFi passwords. As for music, apps, documents etc. those you have to sync to your computer. I assume you did not sync your apps? In the case of that Bluetooth app which I assume is one of these apps which turn on or off Bluetooth with a single tap that was lost because it's not on the app store any more so the only way to preserve something like that is to sync your apps with iTunes in which case a copy of the app is stored locally on your computer. This way you can put apps back on your phone that are not even there any more. Was the mmusic you lost bought from iTunes? If so you can redownload it. If it was synced to your iPhone, then do you still have it on your computer? I created a backup of my original iPhone with iTunes and then restored the backup to the new iPhone. I noticed that a number of items did not restore to the new iPhone. Some documents I created using purchased apps got lost, some music did not make it and I lost an app entirely. To create the backup, I simply went to file > devices> backup. I then connected the new iPhone and selected file > devices > restore. Did I miss something? Any help is greatly appreciated. Oh yeah, the app I lost is called Bluetooth X. It's one of my favorite and most used apps. I tried to find it on the app store but it's no longer there. If anyone can suggest a similar app or has a copy of Bluetooth X they could send me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
