You may want to spend some time and learn the various gestures needed to Operate voiceover. They are different from a regular iPad user. Three finger swipe up-and-down will move the page up-and-down, three finger swipe right Leffel move from page to page etc. There's a bunch of them, and some of them can come in quite handy.
