Ok, Thanks for your post below Rob, I was going to delete it because your
messages are a bit difficult to understand sometimes, but I'm glad I took
the time to figure out your points!

Rob is right in that one can quickly close multiple webpages by repeatedly
split tapping on the "close page button." Where I fell into major confusion
was the fact that David previously conveyed that one can double-tap on the
close button, but this is not easy to do nor is it consistent, but this is
only true when trying to execute a double-tap as he instructed. Rob's new
twist is that he specified one repeatedly execute a split tap on the close
button and this absolutely 100% works and is quick and easy to do. Again, it
is a bit slow to find this close button, but if you do, don't move your
finger off of the screen then split tap like crazy to get rid of all
extraneous Safari webpages.

Thanks Rob for taking the time to experiment and thank you very much for
teaching me a new little IOS trick as I'm still only 2 or so months into the
IOS world.

Joseph

The best I can say is - above centre, well left though not at that edge.
But it is a small button to hold the focus on.

Use a left finger so when you find it, keepit still and touch with another
finger every time you get it to say close with said left finger.

R. Ain't split tapping wonderful!

Well, I stated as clearly as I could that one can't easily find the close
button so one has to resort to swiping to locate the close button when using
Safari. I have very good success placing my index finger on or very close to
most items within the Settings menu without having to swipe to locate the
item. (In short, I don't know what question you are trying to answer.) At
this point I'm going to let it go because I can't make my point any clearer.
No one else has stated that finding the close button is at pixel X and Y
(Exaggeration), so I'm going to assume I'm not alone. (Smile).

Your reply demonstrates that I am not communicating properly. When you are
flicking through a page, you are not locating the button's actual physical
location on the touchscreen. If you know where the button is physically on
the screen, you just need to touch that spot again to be on the button
again. Placing your finger on the actual physical location of the button
uses spatial orientation. Flicking to the button utilises serial computer
navigation, not physical spatial orientation.
