The only reason your finger would be getting sore when you are holding a button
is if you are actually pressing on the display. Not only is this unnecessary,
it causes strain on your finger. After you double-tap and hold, or just tap and
hold, just relax your finger. as long as it remains on the display without
moving, you will continue holding the button, and your finger will not get sore
at all. You can, in fact, touch the display with the finger next to your
activating / holding finger and the iOS device will continue interpreting just
one finger touching the display because there is no space between the fingers.
In other words, you are merely resting your finger or fingers on the button, so
no strain.
