I wouldn't worry about Apple going under or getting bought up by anyone
any time soon. It's strongest competitor, Samsung, has their own set of
problems, and the S4 didn't overwhelm anyone either when it was
launched. I'm hearing a lot of the same things this announcement that I
heard when the iPhone 5 was launched a year ago. The smart phone market
has gotten much more mature in the last few years, and we're not seeing
the big leaps in innovation we saw when the technology was newer.
Apple's also suffering from their own success a bit. The iPhone 5S and
5C were pretty poorly kept secrets, and with all of the hype around this
announcement, it's pretty hard for Apple to live up to those
expectations. Finally, Apple, and any company, gets criticized when
things don't change enough, but they also get their share of criticism
when things change too much.
