I'd say it's analogous to when 64-bit HW started showing up on the
desktop. You probably won't see any improvements at the moment, but once
the operating system and applications are also 64-bit then you'll see a
small performance boost as more data is passed around in larger chunks.
You'll also be able to access more memory and a larger file system then
you could with a 32-bit OS.

When it comes to smart phones, how does 64-bit benefit somebody over a 32-bit
processor? Does it really make a difference in speed that somebody would

Their are a couple of significant changes that make the new phone

I wouldn't worry about Apple going under or getting bought up by anyone
any time soon. It's strongest competitor, Samsung, has their own set of
problems, and the S4 didn't overwhelm anyone either when it was
launched. I'm hearing a lot of the same things this announcement that I
heard when the iPhone 5 was launched a year ago. The smart phone market
has gotten much more mature in the last few years, and we're not seeing
the big leaps in innovation we saw when the technology was newer.
Apple's also suffering from their own success a bit. The iPhone 5S and
5C were pretty poorly kept secrets, and with all of the hype around this
announcement, it's pretty hard for Apple to live up to those
expectations. Finally, Apple, and any company, gets criticized when
things don't change enough, but they also get their share of criticism
when things change too much.

I actually doubt the lines will be that long. Just feels that this launch

different some how. Apple may be going in the direction of Blackberry and

There will be no preordering of the 5S, only the 5C can be preordered.
Anybody who wants a 5S on Friday in a week will have to stand in line.

I've not tried it that way. I used my phone carrier to place the order.
