Hi James, Pete, Shane and others, I think Maria and Raul have given good examples of all the fantastic new iOS 7 features. I have a 4S and the only thing which might be a bit slower is opening apps and by a bit I really mean just a touch. Locking my phone I find is instant when I press the lock key. The Voiceover sounds not going silent with the mute switch I think is a big improvement since I might not want my phone to ring, but I like having the feedback from the sounds and as Maria said, you can always ad sounds to the rotor and turn them on/off that way. Control Center is of course awesome and the fact SIRI now acts much more like when you use it without Voiceover is also very good. I can, for example, now create a reminder or send a text message and I don't have to press and hold the home key when I want to confirm the reminder or send the message, SIRI asks and then listens just as it does without Voiceover. I know people like Raul often said that if they wanted to use SIRI a lot they would unload Voiceover to get this functionality.
Also, and I haven't seen this mentioned, if I am now in message 53 of 58 in my email Inbox and open it, I can now tap Back or do the scrub gesture and focus stays on message 53 instead of going back up to the top of the list--a nice little fix for something we asked for. Also, multiple HQ voices and being able to select a default voice independently from region settings is something many of us wanted and now got. Facetime Audio is not a accessibility feature just as Control Center is not, but I think it's awesome that I can now call family members and friends who I know have iDevices and just have an audio conversation at super high quality without having to use Skype. I think overall this first release of iOS 7 is probably the best ever first release of an iOS version with the least amount of serious bugs both generally speaking and Voiceover specific bugs.
