Hi,
At the moment I'm running iOS 7.0 on my 4S (works well so far).
For those who're planning to upgrade or in the middle of the upgrade,
here
are some things to expect:
* Control Center: you need to first focus on the status bar then swipe
up
with three fingers. From Control Center, you can change the following:
Airplane Mode, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do Not Disturb, AirPlay (if you're
playing music), AirDrop (if you have iPhone 5 and iTouch 5 or later) and
control music playback.
* Container rotor: If you have iPhone or iTouch, when you first start
iOS
7, in certain controls, VoiceOver will play container entry sound (the
same one that is present on iPad) to let you know you're in a
container -
a group of related controls. You can move to different containers (or
groups) by switching to container rotor and doing one finger flick down
(nextgg/up (previous).
* App Store: when you perform app updates, to see what's new in a given
update, double-tap the name of the app. Speaking of app updates, we
have
a number of app updates as expected, including Skype (which now allows
you
to join a group call straight from an iDevice), Twitter, Prizmo and so
on.
* New gestures: As Scott mentioned, VO adds a number of handy gestures,
including VoideOver Practice (four finger double tap). To exit this
mode,
do either: two finger scrub (back) or four finger double tap.
* Notification Center: To restore old behavior of showing missed
notifications, select All button (by default, it opens a calendar like
view to show you what's coming up for today).
* Settings: Cellular toggle is now on the main Settings screen between
Bluetooth and Personal Hotspot.
* Status bar: If you're connected to wireless networks, VoiceOver will
now
announce the SSID (name) of your wireless network (not to be confused
with
cell carrier network).
Notable fixes:
* Mail app focus issue: In iOS 6 series, when you open a message then
return to InBox, VO went to topmost message; this focus bug has been
fixed
(in 7, after you close the message, it'll return you back to messages
list
with the currently read message on focus).
Current bugs:
* Screen lock: when you lock the screen, VO will take up to a second to
announce "screen lock." Previously, VO said this right after you press
sleep button to lock your unit.
* Unlock gesture: if you do three finger swipe right to unlock the
device,
VoiceOver will say, "page 1 or (number)" (usually 2).
* Vocalizer stuttering: It could be just my device (or 4S in general),
but
when Vocalizer (the synthesizer used in VoiceOver) speaks, it has some
stutter in it (could be due to the fact that Apple did experiment with
Vocalizer Expressive Compact voice, so perhaps that remnant is present).
(I might add that Vocalizer now has slightly better inflection when
speaking).
* Siri responses (except older devices): Previously, when Siri returns,
VoiceOver would read everything, including what Siri would have said and
the actual contents of the screen. This is not the case in iOS 7 in
that
VO does not read what should have been read after Siri finishes speaking
(for example, when querying weather, VO does not announce the forecast
or
current conditions, something it did before).
Thanks.
Cheers,
Joseph
