Crossing fingers then- this hard drive failure has possibly pushed me to the 5 computer limit. There must be some way to reset the count-- I hope ;) Cher

Hi, It uses your Apple id and you can authorize a maximum of 5 computers. Unfortunately the authorization doesn't appear to be based on hardware at all; if I reinstall Windows without making any hardware changes it still counts as a new computer, which is a real pain if you're the sort of person who has lots of computers and likes to use different operating systems.
