The TiVo app is another good example where the four finger tap is so
useful. You get a list of your stations, which may run into the
hundreds. If you just touch the bottom of the screen, you just get to
the last station displayed, which may only be the fifth station. The
four finger tap at the bottom of the page does take you to the last
station in the list.

Hi Dan,
Swiping from the Compose button left twice to get to the last email does in
fact work just fine, I tried it since I mostly avoid claiming something
works if I haven't actually tested it.
In this example of getting to the last email the answer is yes, you could
just touch the bottom of the screen where you will land either the Compose
button or the Last updated message instead of doing a 4-finger tap and then
swipe right once or twice depending on where you touched. I do this a lot in
various apps. Now, there are, however, situations where this does not work.
For example, you might have an "I Agree" button at the bottom of a 10 page
disclaimer on a web page or when you install an app and quite often the only
way to get quickly to the bottom and often right onto the button is to use
the 4-finger tap.

Hi,
I do not believe swiping that way will do what you say but I will try it and
will admit it if it works. (smiley face)
Another thought is though why would they even make such a 4 finger tap work
like you say? I just do not see how that would have any advantage over
simply moving my finger to the bottom right corner of the screen and finding
the last item on the screen. Probably my ignorance though.
Thanks.

Hi Dan,
The 4-finger tap is meant to take you to the last element on the screen
which in the case of the Inbox in the mail app is the Compose button at the
very bottom right. If you want to go to the last email all you have to do is
swipe left twice from Compose and you are on the last email.
I guess one could argue that maybe it should take you to the last item or
element in whichever particular container you are in since the iPhone now
does have Containers and the container which includes the "Last Updated"
time and the Compose button is separate from the container which contains
all the messages.

Sieghard

On my iPad mini, I notice sometimes that the 4 finger single tap
towards the bottom of the screen (which should take you to the last
element on the page) does sometimes work, but almost just as often it
has some unpredictable result, such as performing a tap action for
example. Any of you able to repliccate this as a bug?
Thanks
