I could not get four-finger vertical flicks to work, either on the home screen, in the running app, or in the app switcher. That said, whilst in the app switcher, a four finger tap on the top half of the screen is the same as left flick, and a four-finger tap on the bottom half of the screen is the same as a right flick.
