Carol, I find Siri's performance to be lacking considerably in this upgrade.  
First of all, the dictation is very poor as far as responsiveness.  As you say, 
half of the time, she doesn't read it back.  Another problem I have is this, if 
I turn voice over off, and then ask Siri a question or give her a task, she 
does much better than if I have voice over on.  All of my sighted friends say 
that they feel that Siri works much better with IOS 7, but, I think that is 
because they don't use voice over.  That is why I tried turning it off, and did 
seem to get better results.  There are many times I wish I hadn't upgraded, 
but, there are features I like.  I'll just have to be patient.
