Hi all. With regard to wall paper, I had a friend tell me that sometimes, depending on the vision loss, decreasing brightness can help, which would make sense to me in certain circumstances. Also Select the last Apple selection for wallpaper. It is black and gray; she felt that it helped significantly. Again, your results will vary based on your type and degree of vision loss. I have no firsthand knowledge of whether this works, just passing along the info in case it can help someone somewhere.
