If my iPhone updates automagically, I will be quite upset. Let's hope this isn't true. I went through a purposeful exchange to get a 5, that was not updated to 7. If they do create an iOS that won't run on a five, hopefully it wouldn't be for awhile. I am betting I'll be able to run six on my five until my favorite app won't work. That is the likely scenario. Just my .02...ymmv...

Agreed. Plus, eventually, you have to update. I mean, you can't hold off
forever; though maybe you can, as I know some odd ducks still running...
Windows 98 on their PC's...
I just shake my head, and smile! LOL!

Considering that more than 65% of IPhones have been updated to 7 I
don't see the big deal.

It's not really the issue, but how much space does this image really
take up? I've heard that the download size varries from 750M to 1.2G for
Verizon users. 3G is only needed during the install process. How do
people know it's really taking up 3G of their space? I wonder if some
uncompressing is going on after the image is downloaded, although I'd
expect this just to be done during the install process itself. It would
be pretty unfortunate for those 8G and 16G iPhone users who don't want
to move up to IOS 7 to lose even more space if the image is untangled in
preparation for the install.

I will say though that once the update is at least downloaded (not

I'm sure eventually there will be no choice but to update, but there's no way for it to happen accidentally or at the very least, without the terms
and conditions being agreed to.
Although... If you're running the latest iTunes and want to back up your
phone, will it only allow you to update to iOS7? I'm running it because
there's no reason not to, so I'm not sure how that would work... I know
itunes recognizes that your software is out of date, but unsure if you
can
proceed with doing a backup without upgrading to the latest.
Sadly though, regardless of how it happened or what the cause was,
contacting disability services wil likely be an exercise in extreme
futility, since once you've upgraded, you're running it whether you want
to
or not; from what Apple has told me anyway... *shrug* Nothing disability
department can do one way or the other since it's not an accessibility or
disability related issue.

Hi Paula,

I suspect that maybe whoever was helping her might have inadvertently
tapped
Install or said Yes when asked to update, but you still have to Agree
twice
to the Terms and Conditions and I really can't see how if you tap Decline
it
would not let you out of the screen.

A couple of weeks ago somebody also posted that iOS 7 installed on their
phone automatically and I mean "installed" not just downloaded and there
is
just no way it would do so because you just have to double tap I Agree
and
then double tap it a second time.

Regards,
Sieghard

Paula, I would contact the disability support number at Apple. That is
strange because I have not heard of that happening to anyone.
There were 2 people at our meeting last night who had not upgraded and
they
didn't have that problem. Lots of luck!

Hi, everyone. A coworker has an IPhone 5 running IOS 6. She does not
want to update right now. Yesterday someone was helping her with her
phone, and the phone asked if she wanted to update. The only option
was "ok". There appears to be no way to get out of that screen. We
tried re-setting the phone by holding down the lock and home button
for 10 seconds and just turning the phone off and back on again.
There still seemed to be no way to get out of the update prompt.
Going into the app switcher still didn't work. Anyone have any
thoughts? I'm disappointed to see this with no option to cancel.

Thanks.

God bless!

Paula and Babe
