Hi Fanus, No real solution except using a headset. Before I had my 5S I usually picked up the call with a 2-finger double tap and it usually went to speakerphone. I would say Hello and "just a sec, then I'd wait a couple of seconds and put my phone to the ear and it would usually be OK.
The good thing is that if you sell the phone to a non Voiceover user this problem does not exist because there is no automatic switching. On my 5S this problem is completely gone. I was still on Apple Care and since on my 4S it seemed to get worse and on a few calls it wouldn't switch to the earpiece at all even if I repeatedly put my hand over the earpiece or moved my phone to my ear and away I called Apple, explained the problem and they sent me a new 4S. Since it's an unlocked 64 Gb I at least now can probably get $80 or $100 more than I would have gotten for my 2 year old 4S, typical great service and I think Apple is even more inclined to do this for people who buy at full price directly from them and have Apple Care because I doubt they make quite as much money if they sell phones to big carriers who probably get a discount. Of course I don't know if my new 4S has the same problem since I am not even going to touch it, it goes into the original case I still have along with the original, still wrapped headset and a bunch of extra accessories and I won't even set it up. I can truly say I am selling a new unlocked 4S 64 Gb except that it won't have warranty. This is very frustrating. I did a reset with the home and sleep buttons and I even dit a reset with the option in settings but the problem is not solved. I would like to sell my 4S to get the 5S but I'll have to tell potential buyers of this problem and no one would probably purchase it if such a problem exists.
