This simply means you've made some changes in iTunes for your iPhone, but
they haven't yet been saved. For example, it may have been as simple as
ticking a few boxes for some playlists or ringtones you want to sync, or
enabling sync over wifi. Normally, when you hit the Apply button, iTunes
saves your settings and does another sync with the phone, but if you tried,
say, to go to another section of iTunes or quit iTunes, you'd be warned that
your changes will be lost if you don't hit that Apply button to save them.

Subject: New phone & message saying I've changed settings...

Upgraded from a 4 with IOS6 to a 5C with IOS7 today. I'm in iTunes on the PC
and hearing a message, "You have changed settings for the iPhone- would you
like to apply these changes? Apply, don't apply." I'm not sure of the
consequences of either action. Would deeply appreciate hearing your
experiences with this dialog.
