I'm not Linda, but no you don't need to put the roter on anything in
particular to do this. You just can't be in the hand writing option
because then a left or right flick would be interpreted as a letter.
Other than that, flicking left and right will take you to the previous
and next objects on the screen, including edit fields.

When a screen has quite a few edit boxes to be filled in, I use a single
finger and swipe left or right to find the next edit box. Depending on
what it is you are trying to fill in, I am always amazed how much
information can be jammed into one little screen.

When a person is in an edit field and entering information and then you
want to go to the next edit field how do you get to the next edit
field. Do you double tap on return? Like on a windows pc you would hit
the tab button to go to the next edit field. How do you do that on IOS?
