In my opinion I have not found any reason to turn of Voiceover to get better
SIRI results especially in iOS 7 where you get the same interactive format
with or without Voiceover. I have tried 5 or 6 definitions this morning at
various times and each time SIRI read the definition although in some cases
it said that 3 definitions were found and it wuld then proceed to read the
first. When I asked SIRI to read the second or next definition I was told "I
don't know what you mean by read the next definition" or something like
that. However, It's not a big deal to touch the screen and use Voiceover to
read it.
The other day I was looking for a particular lawyer's office here in my
town. I asked SIRI to show me nearby lawyers, she said she came up with 11
results and asked if I wanted her to read them. Since I was walking at the
time I said yes and she read the first. At the end she asked if that was the
one I wanted. I said No and she read the next, repeated the question in a
slightly different way and I kept telling her No until the sixth or seventh
result she read was the one I wanted. I said "yes" and she then asked if she
wanted me to call that lawyer's office, I said yes and she dialed the
number. I was totally amazed because this functionality was not there in iOS
6, I did all of this completely without ever touching my phone except for
the initial press of the middle part of the remote to ask my question. The
rest was entirely interactive and while it took a while to listen to the
results and to keep telling her "No" when she asked if that was the one I
wanted, it was still pretty cool and I was able to just continue walking. I
could have probably stopped, pulled up my Yellow Pages app and found the
number just s quickly or maybe even a bit faster, but I was just walking
along anyways so why not. I guess this may not be so efficient if you ask in
a big city to "Show me nearby restaurants" and she comes up with a list of
30, but SIRI is definitely getting smarter and more useful.

Regards,
Sieghard

Maybe have Voiceover on but turn off the speech with a three finger double
tap. That's how I get Siri to cooperate properly.

>> Hi all. Before IOS 7, you could ask Siri for a definition of a word. Siri
would then look it up and display the definition on the screen. I can't seem
to get Siri to do that any more. Does anyone have any info on this or has
anyone been able to successfully get Siri to look up words for them? Thanks.
