Also, go into settings, general, accessibility, voice over, and then to rotor. Add volume to the rotor. Then, before you start to make one of these call, turn the rotor to volume, so that when you are on the call, you can swipe up to increase the volume of voice over to a point where you can hear it over the automated call voice. I agree that these type calls can be done over the speaker, but a problem is that your phone will want to default to the ear piece, so you may miss some of what the automated voice is saying until it switches back to the speaker. That is one reason why I prefer to use headphones when I know I am going to make one of these type calls.

First, check that your keypad is visible, by finding it near the top of your screen or by finding a button to show/hide it. If the button is to hide it, the keypad is already visible, otherwise double tap to show the keypad. Personally, I use headphones when possible if I will need access to the keypad, but I can just as easily use speakerphone mode. As soon as the main number starts ringing voice over reduces in volume and there seems to be no access to the number pad to make selections. I remember that in anser to a question about dialing extensions someone suggested using commas to cause a pause in the touch tones, but your more likely to know someone’s extension than you are the numbers you need to select from a menu. My carriers customer service line involves a series of layered menus about six in total. The only way I can think of to get around this is to dial the main number, remember the number to select from the first menu, hang up ,add a comma and that digit to the original number, then redial to get access to the second menu, remember the number I need to make the selection, hang up, add a comma and this digit to the original number and redial etc six times, and even that assumes that the comma will put in the right length of pause to make the menu work. Am I missing something, is it really this painful? If it is I don’t understand why it can’t be rigged so that if you touch the touch screen within a certain interval of the phone ringing voice over raises in volume just to give you the keypad but shuts up again as soon as you stop touching it. What happens if you hit a number on a blue tooth keyboard while the phone is making a call? I would be grateful for any advice. VDR and other apps have their own paging systems, so they will rarely if ever sync with what the text claims. Voices are still paid, though you can now use the HQ voices offered to VO users in iOS 7 for free. I am reading Bookshare books with Voice Dream Reader. As VO moves through the text, it will announce page numbers. However, when I stop reading, and verify the stats on the app, it tells me I am on a different page than what VO announced. Why is this? Also, I am still confused as to whether you can add new voices for free now that the new Apple IOS updates are on, or do you still have to purchase new voices through the store?
