Hi Marianne, Labels on cans are not as difficult as you may think, for example the barcode on a can is almost always just to the left of the seam where the 2 label ends meet and overlap. The written information is usually across that on the other side of the c an.
As for subsidized packages, that would be hard to do since the billing is done by Apple via the App Store. The only way for Tap Tap See to offer a discount would be to put the app on sale or to provide a promo code and I am not even sure if these are possible with a subscription. I am also surprised that nobody has mentioned that as far as the price is concerned, Tap Tap See only gets 70% of whatever they charge in the app store. From the $7.99 amount for 100 pictures Apple keep $2.40 and Tap Tap See is paid $5.59. Lastly, any low-income discount would also mean people would have to provide some sort of proff of their income and if anything it would have to be something the various assistance programs out there would have to figure out how to do. For example, as iDevices become more popular, some program could set up an Apple ID, people who apply and qualify could then be gifted certain apps. Of course gifting an app is as far as I know only possible in the same country so it would be up to different countries to set up programs like that. This could even be a business idea, somebody could set up a not for profit website where anybody (businesses as well as individuals) could donate money or iTunes Gift cards and then this is used for subsidized apps. I am a teacher of students who are blind and working with a student who has additional disabilities. She loves the app and is learning to use it independently. The reason we end up with so many pictures is because she may take 3 pictures very quickly. It can also take a few pictures to identify a can or box because you have to find the area where it can be identified. I don't expect solutions to these comments. Are you a for profit company? I wondered if there was a way to set up a donation program so people on very low incomes can get the monthy fee paid . Just a thought.
