I wonder if there'd be a way the folks at TapTapSee would have to received
photos that didn't fail but that didn't meet the users needs as described by
Cara, with descriptions of why it wasn't successful from the end-users
standpoint, to learn from a sighted TapTapSee perspective what the real-world
problems being encountered actually were. Could it be the the desired text is
too small for TapTapSee to recognize, or could the contrast of the desired text
against the background not be enough to permit TapTapSee to read it, etc?

I would think TapTapSee developers would be interested in this kind of
real-world feedback, and include a mechanism to permit the sending of
unsuccessful (not failed) photos, with a description. Note, this would not be
intended to provide the end-user the originally desired answer, but rather to
permit TapTapSee developers to learn what kinds of limitations were being
encountered, and hopefully this info would permit further improvements.

Keith.

Hi there, what Alan is saying is that though a result is sent, it may be less
than useful. I'll use my own recent experience as an example.

I was taking a shot of a tin of Republic of Tea Good Hope Vanilla. I in the
end, simply abandoned trying to get a confirmation that this was the tea I had
as the answers I continued to get were:

tin of tea

Can of food

Orange can

Republic of Tea

etc

I had the can in focus, the label in frame and wanted to verify that I did have
the Good Hope Vanilla tea. I have a vast amount of teas as I love love love
teas and coffees. So knowing which flavor I have of anything is really
important. I know that the tin is Republic of Tea, as I have several tins of
that brand of tea.

So Alan's concerns here are that we get relevant information and not just
information. Does this make sense?

I, like many here, have no problem with paying for a service as long as that
service is what we need.

So far, TapTapSee has been amazing and for me, that tea experience is actually
the first one I've seen where the app has failed. So I'm pretty impressed. :)

So this is just a matter of working out the details so everyone can have the
proper results that will most benefit their particular needs.

Thanks for reading and have a nice day / weekend!

Smiles,

cara :)

Alan,

A successful identification occurs when a result gets sent back to you, as
opposed to a "Failure to send" message. We'll continue to monitor and improve
our identifications as time goes on. Accuracy and speed are always the main
focus for us.

Ok here's my question. I may have to take several pictures moving the iPhone
forward, backward, left or right only to hear can of chili. That's helpful but
not very informative. If I under stand you then that would be a successful
image and thus I'd be charged for that picture when in reality, I'm looking for
can is Hormel Chili no beans. I don't have a problem paying. I'm not looking
for something for nothing. I'm just concerned that I get the information I
need with out being over charged. With the hundred picture plan at 8 cents a
picture and it takes me ten shots to get it right, then it would cost me 80
cents just to find out what's inside that can. The same thing with boxes etc.
Box of cereal is not what I need to know. Box of Kellogg Frosted Flakes is.

Paula,
We'll be releasing an update in the next 5-7 days that will fix it to only
count the successful pictures. Meaning, the pictures that return an
identification to your phone.

What about those pictures that come back as "failed"? I was trying to get a
picture yesterday and got the message that the picture had timed out. There
were 5 or 6 of those timed out ones before I actually got the picture of the
shirt logo which was what I was looking for. Would I be charged for the failed
pix if I use the 100 picture plan?
God bless!

Donna,
It goes from the date of purchase. As you said, i.e. Nov. 7th to Dec. 6th. Then
when you attempt to take another picture after those dates a message for
subscription will appear.

Hello

Does the monthly $9.99 unlimited pictures subscription go from the date of
purchase to the same day the next month, ex. Nov. 7th to Dec. 6th? Or from the
first day in the month to the last day in a month, ex. Nov. 1st to Nov. 30rd?

Thanks

Donna

Hello Debbie,

This is something someone else suggested today as well. It is definitely
something that we'll look into for a future update. Thank you for the
suggestion!

Hello,

I was just wondering if there is some sort of counter that is accessible to let
you know how many pictures you have left if you purchase the 100 picture
package?

Thank you!

Debbie

No, it does not have an expiration date. That package is good until you run out
of the 100 pictures.

Due to the high costs of image recognition, we were forced to change TapTapSee
into a subscription based service. We will continue to improve our service in
order to provide you with the high quality tags that you've come to love and
expect. The TapTapSee team is committed to improving the app based on the
customer feedback and suggestions. In the next few days a message will pop up
on the app that will present you with two option. Option 1) 100 Picture Pack
for $7.99. Option 2) 1 Month of Unlimited Pictures for $9.99. The purchase is
done through your Apple iTunes account.
