I would be extremely careful with paying for an unlock. Usually it involves jailbreaking yourdevice which of course can't be done with iOS 7 at this point. Anyhow, I might be wrong here, but all I ever heard is not to pay for unlocking because it's a very slippery slope to be one. In any case, if you are in a 2-year contract unlocking your phone will not get you out of it. Here in Canada carriers have to unlock after 90 days, but that is more for people who travel and temporarily want to use a SIM in a different country, it does not mean they can buy a phone on subsidy and 3 month later switch to an MVNO and it shouldn't, after all, the carrier did pay a good portion of your phone.
