Yes, Apple Maps is the native Maps app on the iPhone. I think we got
into the habit of calling it Apple Maps when Apple switched from a
Google app to it's own app in IOS 6.

Also, in iOS 7, Apple Maps detects whether one is driving or walking by the
speed one is moving. When I was running it yesterday tracking a route,
getting on the bus caused it to switch to driving mode. Getting off the bus
caused it to switch back to walking mode. In walking mode, unless one has
changed to tracking with headings, the map of the current surrounding area
is displayed. There is lots of nice bits of information given, but to have
each bit automatically announced, one must place VO focus on the particular
bit.
