What is a media partner?

I’m trying to set up imap weather radio, but I can’t get passed the screen
that asks you for your zip code to select a media partner. I enter my zip,
tap search, and I get an empty list, with no way to exit out of that screen.
Someone else I know set up the app just fine with no problems, so I have no
idea what I’m doing wrong. It says that even if you don’t have a media
partner in your area, you can still use the app, but so far, that seems to
be completely false.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
