Annie, unfortunately, you need to have a sinm card in an iphone in order to
activate it. After you've activated it you can take the sim card out, but
for the activation process you need a sim. I don't know why Apple decided to
do this, it's a pain in the ass!
Cheers
Alex

Subject: An IPhone without sim card.

Hi.

I have just updated an IPhone 5 without a sim card. That seems to be stupid,
because now I can not set it up just to use wifi. Can I do anything. Or do I
need to buy a simcard for it?

Best regards Annie.
