Hi to the person who wondered why the microphone on DropVox was not set higher.
I can only say that if I hold the microphone about a foot from me and talk in a
normal voice, I peak at about -4 DB which is well within, if not a bit above,
the suggested dynamic range. It may simply be that you were a good ways from
the person speaking. On the other hand, I don't know how various iPhone models
work with respect to their microphone volume. I am using an iPhone 5.

I'm not sure this helps, but I don't know of many microphones if any that would
be louder than the onboard microphone.

Neal

Scott and list. I know not to just thank people on the list, but here is the
thing. DropVox never asked me if I wanted to use the microphone. So, it was
nice to know how to do it. I'm not sure why I was not asked in the first place,
but keep that in mind if the same thing happens to you.

Neal

Hi Neal,
If the app doesn't ask you about the mic, you can go to Settings > Privacy >
Microphone. You will see a list of your apps that can access the mic with a
on/off status for each.
Thanks,
Scott Duck

Yes, Apple added this after reports came out that apps could activate the mic
in iOS and Android phones without the user's knowledge or permission.
