Hi, The fact that you said the apple id needed to be changed indicates those apps were bought with another apple id. I would suggest you delete those three apps from iTunes, and try to install the apps from the iPhone under the main user apple id. If you see in the app store that the option is to buy rather than install, apple has no record of that purchase with the apple id set up on the phone. Alas, despite what your friend says, I'd bet a lot of money those three were installed while logged in under a different apple id. Is there another user in the household who synchs to that computer? That could also explain this type of problem.
In any event, you can always download apps from the store that you previously installed unless the developer or apple has removed it.
