Eric, my understanding is that if a blog has an RSS feed, you should be able to put a subscription to it into the list of feeds your reader checks. Some blog pages also have a "subscribe by email" option that alerts the user that a new post has been made.
A further note about the Huffington Post book I mentioned: it is an excellent source for political blogs but not as good for technology blogs.
