Be sure that sounds are turned on from the Settings section of GV Connect itself. Only sound available is the glass ding sound from iOS 6 and earlier since the sounds are part of the app itself. If you want other types of notifications, then you will need to use a push service like Push or Boxcar or Mailtones and have Google Voice send incoming text messages to an email address which triggers the push. yes, if you have a Google Voice number, you basically get texting for free even if you don't have a real texting plan with your provider. Hope that helps. -- Raul A. Gallegos I can't live without y?o?u?. TEA. I can find text messages in the app when I check but can't seem to get it turned on in the notification Center. It would be nice to know if it works for someone else. > > Also, I don't have a texting plan but when non iPhone users send me a text to my GV number it shows up in the app. So is this basically like having free texting or am I missing something? I have texting turned off on my plan so normally I don't get anything except from iphone users and AT And T directly. > > Eric Caron > > On Mar 4, 2014, at 12:54 PM, Raul A. You might learn more if you do a Google search for Google voice, or just visit the Google Voice page at http://voice.google.com. You can get a number for free. The app GV Connect is one of many apps in the app store which will access your Google Voice number and allow you to call or text from it. >> >> Hope this helps. >> >> -- >> Raul A. However that portion will be changing in May this year. if you set GV connect to use your allowed forwarding phones for the phone call, that will still work from what I know. It's how I use it as well. SMS won't be changing either. >>>> >>>> -- >>>> Raul A.
