I just went into Printers and Scanners. While I could see my printer that is currently offline no error message appeared and I could delete the printer without fuss. I now have no printers. Sorry I couldn't be of much help. Tried to see if I could duplicate your issue. Regards Chris Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof!
