It is what I did Eileen I deleted from my iPhone the apps that I don't want to update, for example skype. Later I did a restore as new device. After this, I downloaded the restore from iCloud to my device. Later I stored a backup of my iPhone in my computer, replacing the old backup. Now, I start to use my phone fine, and no more battery problems. I hope that it helps you.
