Are you asking how to close an app from the App Switcher? It's been a
while since I've run IOS 6, but after bringing up the App Switcher,
double tap and hold until you hear the tones on one of the apps in the
App Switcher. Double tapping an app after that should close it. As far
as I know, there's no way to close everything in the App Switcher with
just one gesture.

Yes, but I just wanted to know if there is a way to close all applications
after I have done with them, since I want my battery to last longer. Because I
use IPod Touch a lot to listen to audio books, and news papers.

That's because the ipod touch 4th generation doesn't support ios 7. You are
using ios 6.

Hi Richard, in my I Pod Touch 4 it doesn’t work like that. When I double
click the home button on my IPod Touch, APP Switcher opens, but, to open the
applications double tap. For instance, my audio books when I want to close
in IPod Touch, it says to double tap to open, where as in this IPhone 5, I
can close the applications with swyping with my three fingers up. Is there
anything to do with the settings? Thank you Ruby

Getting to the app switcher is the same for the iPod Touch as for the
iPhone.
Double-tap the home button and use the three finger swipe up to close the
aps out of the app switcher.

It is a double-tap of the home button.
Unless you have an iPad where you can swipe up from the bottom of the screen
with four fingers.

Thanks, Kimmer, for posting this. I assumed hopefully erroneously that
the download was corrupted when I upgraded my wife's fifth generation
ipod. Don't have this problem with my other IOS devices.

Since upgrading to 7.1, a double click of the home button no longer
opens the app switcher on my 4s. Can others confirm this behavior?
