Interesting. It's always been my understanding that bluetooth, especially bluetooth 4.0, is pretty efficient. Maybe I'm getting my facts mixed up with wifi though. Hopefully David will see this thread and weigh in with his research and findings. I turn bluetooth off when I'm not using it or expecting to use it, but when I forget, and leave it on, I don't notice a big difference in battery usage.

Hi Christopher,

If I turn my bluetooth on my battery drops rapidly. If it is off the
battery will last at least the day if not 2 days.

Since I got my Iphone 5 and started hearing others talk about battery issues
I tested different features on the phone and found that bluetooth drains the
battery the fastest except for VO itself.

I have no use for bluetooth so I tend to leave it off all the time so it
isn't an issue for me.

Dan, What makes you think bluetooth is the biggest baterry drainer on
your phone? From what I've read, and from my own experience, bluetooth
is pretty far down the list, behind things like screen brightness,
location services, cellular and wifi. This is especially true since
Apple went to bluetooth 4.0 on the 4S.

Before doing a phone reset you should also make sure bluetooth is turned
off. On my Iphone 5 that is the biggest battery drainer.

Making sure the screen brightness is low and not using VO anymore than you
have too can also help.

I found after upgrading to 7.1 that bluetooth was turned on by the update.
This might be the case on your phone too if you thought it was off before
the update.

Has anyone at all found anything to stop the constant battery draining in
7.1?
I am charging my phone between 2 and 3 times aday lately. I have turned
off
background app refresh and am even running the phone on 0 brightness.
I am on the verge of doing a complete wipe and setting it up as a new
phone
but really don't want to do that.
