I have a friend who is getting inconsistent results with apps needing to get
data or music over wi-fi. She keeps getting messages from her iPhone that
she is not connected to a wireless network or asking if she wants to use the
cellular network to get the data. This is happening even though her wireless
settings show that she's connected to her home wireless network.

I seem to recall other posts discussing wi-fi issues recommending that those
experiencing the problem to disconnect and then reconnect to their wi-fi
network. Am I remembering that right and what are the steps to do it? Would
that be to go into settings, wi-fi, selecting the more info button next to
the connected network, and then executing the forget this network button?
After doing this, is all that is needed is to find her wi-fi network in the
available list, select it, and then provide the password?

Thanks in advance for help with this issue.
