I am at a complete loss as to how to attempt to solve the problem
outlined here.
I have an iPhone 4 which is running IOS 7.1. This phone is used
primarily for internet audio streaming. Much of the time, the iPhone 4
is connected via blue tooth to my Jambox. On Friday afternoon, I was
playing the iPhone through the Jambox and turned off the Jambox so as to
listen through the iPhone's internal speaker. This of course caused the
stream to pause, so I pressed the power button, intending to unlock the
iPhone so as to do a two finger double tap to continue the stream playing.
No sound came out of the speaker when the power button was pressed.
After trying this several times, I turned the Jambox back on. When I
then pressed the iPhone's power button, I got the appropriate prompts,
after which I was able to unlock the stream and do whatever I wished
with no apparent difficulty. I then again turned off the Jambox and
repeated the same sequence with the same results.
Again, I got things up and running by turning the Jambox back on and
unlocked the screen without difficulty. At this point, I powered down
the iPhone. But when I powered up again, the same silence occurred.
Again, I could get things going by turning on the Jambox. So I went
into settings and sounds, thinking to see if something had changed.
Absolutely nothing had changed. However, when I flicked down with one
finger to lower the volume setting by ten per cent, the appropriate
percentage was verbalized through the iPhone's internal speaker. But as
soon as I backed completely out of settings, the internal speaker was
silent again. Only when I changed the volume setting was anything
verbalized through the internal speaker, absolutely nothing else.
Obviously, this being a 4, it is not under warranty. So I am open to
suggestions as to what to do to rectify the situation. Has anyone else
on list had a similar experience? If so, how did you resolve it?
Thanks in advance for feedback.
