Hi Christina, OK, I do get this behavior as well and that is after the 7.1.1 update. I have, however, not noticed that this significantly affects my battery although it is hard to say and I will try to really test this by doing the following:
Tonight I will dictate something so that this speaker hiss is happening. I will make sure my iPhone is fully charged before, then I will lock the screen and see where my battery level is in the morning. Tomorrow evening I will do the same, but then use SIRI and listen to make sure the speaker hiss goes away, then I'll lock the screen and check the battery drain in the morning for the same amount of time. I will have WiFi and Bluetooth on and empty the app switcher and this should hopefully be a fairly objective test. Certainly also something to email [email protected] about. If I use dictation in a text field, the speaker stays on and drains my battery. I can hear the speaker hissing. I am on an iPhone 5S and I do not know if this happens with other iDevices. Use dictation in a text field, then in a couple of minutes, put your ear up to the speaker, and listen for a hiss. My speaker is located down at the bottom right corner. If I use Siri via the home button after I use dictation, the speaker will turn off after a minute. However, if I forget to use Siri, my speaker stays on and my battery very quickly drains. I have not run the update, I am waiting a bit for some of the download traffic to slow down a bit, besides, I have not received an alert on my phone yet. :) After I run the update I will check to see if the speaker problem persists.
