Hello Everyone,

Thank you all for contributing to this thread.

As it turns out, my UCLA account uses the gMail servers.

I'm planning on changing this but have just not gotten around to it. More
and more I'm liking gMail's interaction with Apple devices and older
versions of Outlook, less and less. One has to jump through several
proverbial hoops in order to make sure that gMail actually deletes messages
from the Inbox using any version of Outlook older than 2010.

I do give Apple credit, on the Mac, at least, they've gone the extra mile in
getting the OSX Mail application to work well with gMail.

The problem, it seems, is this labeling system Google implemented some years
back. Fortunately, neither the CandleShore nor the CandleShoreBlog servers
use such a system.

Upon further reflection, I remember that, on the Mac also, when sending
messages to any Google Group mailing list using gMail backend servers, the
same problem occurred. The solution back then, although I don't know if it
is still working, was to go into the advanced settings of the Mail
application and either add or remove the checkbox next to keep a copy on
this computer. It was a weird fix but it worked.

I just checked all of the Mail setting options on my iPhone and such an
option does not exist.

There is an option to move discarded messages to either the Delete folder or
archive folder. Currently, mine is set on Deleted messages but none of the
emails that I am not seeing appear to be located in any of my deleted
folders.

As an F Y I and probably more info than any of you want, on my iPhone, when
I open the gMail All Mail folder, I can, indeed, see the messages I sent to
the list from the iPhone.

The funny thing is that, as I stated originally, I am using the exact same
credentials for all of my accounts on all of my devices including my Macs,
my Android devices, my Windows 7 computers, my Windows 8.1 computers, etc
yet Outlook 2007 (I know, I know, I need to update but just haven't) just
pulls all of the messages off the server regardless of who sent them.

I wonder if I would run into the same problem were I to update to the latest
version of Outlook on my PC.

Anyway, when it's all said and done, sooner or later, I am going to move my
UCLA account from gMail to one of my own hosted servers so this will no
longer be an issue.

Again, thank you all for your help on this one.

Mark

Richard, I'm pretty sure the difference is that your email account is
through gmail and Sieghard's is not. I've never received my own list
messages I've sent while subscribed with a gmail address and have been told
that's a gmail thing.

Interesting, I have Outlook at home and I never see my messages I send to
the list from home.
So, the real question is, what is different in our settings.
I'm copying Raul on this to see if he has any insights.

A recent study shows that women who carry a little extra weight live longer
than the men who mention it.
