Yes. Find the Go To Today button just to the left of the New Event button and double tap and hold. Once you hear the tones, there is a multi-part picker that has month, day, year. Find the month and flick up I think it is to go forward. Then, go to the day picker and flick to the date you want. You can even schedule in future years with the year picker.
Once you have the date you want, find the done button and double tap. Then, double tap the new event button. Note that once you have schedule the appointment, the calendar will flip back to today in just a few seconds. So, I use Siri to confirm that the date was set when I wanted it by simply asking Siri to tell me my appointments on that date. I wish the calendar would stay put in case you have several appointments to enter on a future date. I'm going to request that change.
