Hi, ultimately the best thing is for you to try and get your hands on a few displays to choose from. If you can't do that, then you will go mainly by reviews and/or what other people say. Here is my take on this display.

1. It's small and portable. That's good for me.
2. It has 18 cells. That's not good for me personally. I prefer 32 or 40, but the trade off is that it's not as portable.
3. It costs less. You mentioned cost, so this is a factor.
4. The usb port is sometimes hard to connect the cable into. When charging it, you have to connect a cable into it. this is also true if you want to use it with a pc or mac. users have reported that the recessed charging port is sometimes hard to reach and when the cable is in, it's hard to pull out. 5. It can be flipped up-side-down. you can use the display with the display toward you, or away from you. I guess that's a neat feature, but not of interest to me personally.

With the comments above I tried to be unbiased except where I add in my own personal comments. However, over all it's not a bad display to get as long as you are aware of some of the features and/or issues with it, like the charging connection. Beyond that, the display software seems to be stable, it pairs with iPhone and/or ipad just fine, and is a great and small portable display. Another one to consider under the 2000 dollar range is the Freedom Scientific Focus 14 cell display. However it's 14 cells instead of 18, and is lighter, and some say would break easier.

Good luck.

Hi all, I'm very lucky in that I'm going to be able to get a braille display.
I am looking at the refreshabraille. I was just wondering if anyone has this
display and would recommend it. Obviously I know its kind of small, but I sort
of need to stay under the $2000 mark. Any thoughts positively or egatively
would be appreciated.
Thanks,\
