The side switch on the iPad can either lock your screen orientation or you can change it so it acts like the switch on the iPhone which means it will Mute the iPad. As Earl said, there is no vibrate mode on an iPad just as there is none on an iPod Touch. I don't have an iPad handy right now, but I assume you may still have Orientation Lock in the Control Centre, just something you have to check.
Vo Calc was mentioned yesterday in your thread. Apparently it is made by the same developer who does MBraille. There are a ton of Flashlight apps, I am sure many of them are free so you probably just have to search the app store for "Flashlight" and try out a few. As for a replacement for Voice Memos, just search the list archives for "recording app" or check Applevis, there have been many discussions about them. The ones that come to mind are List Recorder, Dropvox and Recording Pro.
