In the announcements this week, it said that IOS 8 would be supported on
the iPhone 4S and later.
Performance improvements can always be made in an OS to keep it running
on older hardware, take IOS 7.1.1 on the 4S for example. I suspect
you're right though. There's not much incentive to keep improving
performance on older hardware and there's a lot of reason to take
advantage of the faster speeds and newer features on the newer hardware.

Coo, a 4 had better be left with that, 8 would probably terminally cripple

Well, my iPhone for is still running version 6X. I seem to remember noting
that version eight will not be available for the four. So, I will leave
before running that version. Why? Because it holds the battery power much
more efficiently than version 7X. Also, because I like to do the online
cryptic crossword with the guardian and this is simply not possible with
more recent updates to I OS.

It will be interesting to see just how many make the leap from iOs 6.*
straight up to 8.*.

Subject: Accessibility Features in iOS8
Hi all,
I just wanted to let everyone know the major new iOS8 accessibility
features
we know so far. This is from the Keynote - I don't even have the beta, so
I
can't break an NDA.
* Better Zoom
* Touch ID and a countdown timer as ways to exit Assistive Touch
* multi-device support for compatible hearing aids
* the Alex voice from OS X (possibly for Siri, or VO, we don't know for
sure)
* six-key braille input on-screen (no clue what this will look like)
* third-party keyboard support for the whole system, and Fleksy as said on
Twitter that it will be among the first to take advantage of this. Yes,
Fleksy will soon be available at any point in iOS when a keyboard appears,
from Mail to the App store to, well, anywhere!
That's all I can think of for now, but between those and the standard iOS8
features, this is shaping up to be a very, very exciting release!

Have a great day,
Alex Hall
