I don't know that a horn would be my choice but I suggested it as it is a very 
low tech solution that would allow someone to still be able to hear the iPod 
touch but maybe easily keep it off of a flat surface from spills? I really 
don't know. I really doubt the inexpensive ones amplify the sound much if at 
all but it may prevent the muffling that can sometimes occur.   I did find this 
article but I did not notice any prices. I have seen some of these horn 
amplifiers cost a lot more than a traditional electric speaker.
