Hi Steve and others,

Regarding the 4-finger tap, why not simply try it and see what happens?
<Smile>. iOS is a platform where you are presented with a prompt before
deleting anything, so in this case it is true that "you can't break
anything."

There are many ways to navigate the list of contacts...

1. Use the iOS search to quickly search for a Contact. On any Home screen
use a 3-finger swipe down to launch the search. You will land on an edit box
so take it from there--type the person's name.

2. Within the Contacts app, press 4-finger tap at top of the screen then
swipe to the right to move from 1 contact to another in alphabetical order.

3. You can also use the Contact's built-in search, but like I stated in
suggestion 1, the Spotlight search procedure is probably faster. <Smile>.

4. Within Contacts you can also try swiping to the "Table index" then
single-finger double-tap and hold. After you hear the chime, without
removing your finger from the screen, simply move your index finger down the
screen and you will hear each letter of the alphabet. When you find the
letter of interest (make absolutely sure you are on the desired letter),
simply lift your finger then swipe to the right to move through the contacts
beginning with the letter of interest.
Note: at first, this procedure is a little iffy, but it can work reliably
with some practice. <Smile>.

5. You can also navigate your contacts by using a 4-finger tap on the top of
the screen then executing a 3-finger flick down. this will navigate a screen
at a time. Reverse the process to move back a screen at a time.
Think of this process as physically holding a paper notepad.
When you use the 3-finger swipe up it is like flipping the first page up.
When you execute the 3-finger swipe up once again, you are flipping up the
second page of the notepad.
To go back to page 1 of the notepad, simply use a 3-finger swipe down to
flip the notepad pages back to the first page.

6. Once you've moved focus to, let's say the letter T, you can use your
index finger and slide it from top to bottom of the screen (towards the left
side of the screen) in order to quickly review individual names and not have
to swipe through extraneous information. This takes a little practice but
can be reliably performed and a very fast way of finding a specific person.

7. Though very possible, you can also use Siri to access a specific contact,
but I've found this at times a bit unreliable. I "forced" a bit more
reliability by customizing the names and nicknames of my contacts so that
when I use Siri to access the information they are distinct, and as a result
Siri is less likely to make mistakes.

Please let me know if you would like a bit more help. <Smile>.

Subject: Navigating Contacts

Hi friends,

On IOS 7.11, I have approaching a hundred contacts now.
Is there a way to jump from the start of the contacts to the end, they are
arranged in surname alphabetical order as set by default.
Does a four finger double tap take you to the last contact like on some
other screens where it will take you to the last item in a list?
