Hi Sieghard and all,
As a point of information: Galileo already has at least three satellites up and
running. Tests have shown that accuracy has been increased to 1 1/2 m on
average. The clock thing used by Galileo is infinitely more precise than that
used by the American GPS system. The satellites are much higher than the GPS
satellites and so Galileo is much more usable in, four example, urban
canyons/indoors. There are also various software tweaks which add to the
accuracy and speed of application involved in the Galileo system. There are
also ground stations which further enhance the system. Galileo will, I
understand, eventually, give global coverage. It also works alongside GPS and
the Russian system. I have been watching the development of Galileo for many
years now and I'm delighted to say that it is, albeit in its initial stage,
here! Rather than wait till Apple decides to participate in its use, being
U.S.-based, Apple might be slow on this, I am interested to try it out with the
GNSS Bluetooth receiver. Perhaps, there are other people, Europe based, here,
who may have further information?
All the best,
Sandy
